Surge Generators
Surge Generators
High voltage surge generators -commonly known as thumpers- are used to inject a high voltage DC pulse, carrying a large amount of energy (Joule), into a faulty AC power cable with the aim of creating a loud "crack" at the point where the fault breaks down. By using an acoustic receiver the fault can then be pinpointed.
